Keeping the value of your car

So you may have just bought a brand new car and are excited to drive your sweet ride around town. It was an awesome deal and you are so excited to show your friends. Well the problem with new cars is that they lose their value very quickly. The second you drive that car off the lot it has already decreased in value.

If you plan on keeping that car forever then great, you can treat it how you want and hope it lasts longer than a couple years. But if you are the type who wants to upgrade every couple of years you are going to have to keep up the value of your car. Even if you get a used car, you will still want to keep its value for as many years as you can.

If you want to be able to sell for a decent price in a few years you need to keep it in tip top shape, there are a few things you need to do to. Here are a few tips to keep up the value of your car:

  1. Change your oil frequently.  A car that has had its oil changed on a regular basis runs better. The recommendation for changing your oil is every 3000 miles or three months, whichever comes first. Do NOT let your car go much over this recommendation. This is very important in keeping your engine clean and to keep out the sludge that will slow down your car. If you engine runs well, your car will have a better value, which will give you a better price when you want to sell.
  2. Keep your car clean. This may sound a little silly, but a clean car will go a long way in keeping up the value of your car. Have you ever gone to look at a used car and it was messy and had a lot of wear and tear? It probably wasn’t selling for as much because of those things. Deep cleaning your car is very important to do on a regular basis.  In keeping your car clean, make sure you regularly get the outside washed, vacuum and shampoo the carpets and the seats, and rinse the whole inside out with a rag. This will keep your car from getting a bunch of messy build up, which will in turn, keep its value.
  3. Don’t smoke in your car. I say this because I have seen many people smoking in their car lately and cigarette smoke sticks to everything it is around. If you smoke in your car, it will smell. And no matter how hard you try to get it out or cover it, it will not budge. Even if you are a smoker and you don’t mind the smell, the next potential owner might not be, and probably won’t appreciate the smell. If you want to keep the value of your car and be able to sell it for a good price in a couples years, do yourself a favor and wait till you get outside to smoke.

Keeping the value of your car high, if you are a teenager, does not ensure you a good rate on <a href=” Drivers”>teenage car insurance</a>. You have to go out and find good rates. You can find cheaper car insurance rates, it’s quite easy. By 1 simple step of typing in your zip code, you start saving that needed money.
